Team building for new teams The New Team Programme
For new, merged or restructured teams that need to start trusting and relying on each other quickly.
Half day10 – 200 peopleIndoors or outdoors
The problem it is built for
New teams, merged teams and restructured teams all face the same problem. People do not yet know or trust each other, so they protect their own patch instead of relying on the person next to them.
This programme gets a group relying on each other within the first hour, then gives them a shared picture to work towards.
How the programme runs
Opening session
A short, low-pressure start that gets people talking to colleagues they do not know yet, and sets out what the day is for.
Pipeline
Each person holds one short length of half-pipe. Together the team must move a ball from start to finish, around obstacles. Nobody can do it alone, so people quickly learn to plan, call out what they are doing and trust the next pair of hands.

Team Art: The Bigger Picture
Each person paints one square of a large image they have never seen. At the end the squares come together into one picture. We can use an image linked to your new team's purpose, and many clients hang the finished piece in the office.

Facilitated debrief
We look at what changed between the first attempt and the last: who started planning, how people signalled to each other, and what it took to trust each other. Then we agree how the team wants to work together from here.
Written summary
A short summary by email after the day, including the working agreements the team came up with.
What changes afterwards
- Quick trust between people who do not know each other well
- The habit of planning a process together
- A clear sense that every person's role counts
- A finished artwork that reminds the team of the day
Best for
