Communication team building The Communication Programme
For teams where messages get lost, people assume instead of asking, and departments work around each other.
Half or full day10 – 200 peopleIndoors or outdoors
The problem it is built for
Most team problems come back to communication. A message gets lost between departments, people assume instead of asking, and small misunderstandings turn into missed deadlines and conflict nobody saw coming.
This programme puts those habits under the spotlight in a way people enjoy, so they can be talked about honestly and fixed.
How the programme runs
Opening talk
Mark opens with a short, practical talk on how information gets lost inside teams and what good hand-overs look like. It gives everyone the same lens for the rest of the day.
Build a Bridge
Your group splits into two sides of a screen. Each side builds half of a bridge to the same specification without seeing the other's work, so everything has to be described, questioned, checked and agreed by talking. At the end the screen comes down and the two halves have to meet.

Chain Reaction (full-day option)
Each team builds one section of a giant machine and agrees with its neighbours exactly how its section will trigger the next. When everything is linked, one weak hand-over stops the whole chain, and everyone sees it.

Facilitated debrief
We look at what was assumed rather than asked, how information moved between the sides, and who held it up. Then we link it to the hand-overs in your own business and agree one or two habits to try.
Written summary
A short summary by email after the day: the goal we agreed, what we saw and practical suggestions for following up.
What changes afterwards
- A shared language for checking understanding
- A clear picture of where your own hand-overs break down
- Practice in precise, two-way communication
- One or two agreed habits to take back to work
Best for
Departments that need to work together better, teams after a run of dropped balls, and cross-functional project teams.
